Employer Beware: Most Employees Want to Work Remotely

Working from Home
While the trend to work remotely was born of a devastating global pandemic, it did yield one positive thing. Working from home (WFH) is the new normal for many. And from what we’re hearing, many don’t want to go back – preferring the flexibility of working from home.

Many professionals like working from home.
In fact, McKinsey’s American Opportunity Survey showed that 58% of the American workforce has the opportunity to work from home at least one day a week, and 35% of respondents are working from home 5 days a week. And when workers are offered the chance to work flexibly –87% of them take it.

This shift truly puts workers in control.
Job seekers are seeing the value and autonomy of working from home. The survey also showed that flexible / remote work was the third greatest motivator for finding a new job – with greater pay being the first, and a better career opportunity being the second.

But what about the people who don’t want to work remotely?
Many large corporations – Apple, Coinbase, Novartis and Cisco to name a few – have shuttered offices entirely. What about the people who don’t have an extra bedroom they can turn into a home office? What about the workers who crave human interaction – who thrive off throwing ideas over a cubicle wall, or who work better in a collaborative environment?

For them, a part-time office or flex-space could be the right solution.
